Long Time… No See
Got hit by a huge laziness and procrastination (illness powered) wave…
…now it’s time to get back to blogging.
By the way, this is one of my favourite Beatles’ videos.

Who said math can’t be funny? This is the definitive t-shirt for music snoobs.
Nothing is any good if other people like it. We’ve just proven it mathematically. I have a theory that the only thing cartoonists bothered learning in math class was Venn Diagrams.

Some of the best mashups DJs realized a damn nice tribute to Chemical Brothers, 2 CDs, very high quality (320 kps): Block Rockin’ Boots, a good way to "boot" the week.

“Hail to the Geek” by Deaf Pedestrians
I got a spiderman t-shirt
I got Converse that are rotting off my feet
I got a bad mustache
a reoccurring rash
and not a lot of cash
I spend it on my stash
Man it’s good to be a geek
Well it’s good to be a geek
It’s good to be a creep
It’s good to draw my pictures
that no one will ever see.
It’s good to be a geek
It’s good to be unknown
It’s good I’m never waiting
right beside the telephone
Cuz no one ever…
(you can listen to the full song on Deaf Pedestrians - MySpace and find full lyrics via a google search on lyrics deaf pedestrians hail to the geek)
NiN, Free Agent, what else to say… amazing news!
This is the official announcement from NiN web site:
08 October 2007: Big News
Hello everyone. I’ve waited a LONG time to be able to make the
following announcement: as of right now Nine Inch Nails is a totally
free agent, free of any recording contract with any label. I have
been under recording contracts for 18 years and have watched the
business radically mutate from one thing to something inherently very
different and it gives me great pleasure to be able to finally have a
direct relationship with the audience as I see fit and appropriate.
Look for some announcements in the near future regarding 2008,
exciting times, indeed.posted by Trent Reznor at 10:45 AM. 766 Comments
I spot an interesting trend.
I’m currently (beta) testing Jango: the quality of the songs and the reccomendation engine is pretty amazing, althought the variety of artists/songs in the database is not yet very wide (compared to last.fm), it is in constant increase, and I found two artists I did’t know, a more accurate analysis of the service in a following post. I’ve two beta invites left, the quickest commenters get the invites via email.
These seems to be great news for the music distrubution market:
“Amazon mp3 BETA - Play Anywhere, DRM-Free Downloads”
(via All Things Distributed: Amazon MP3 by Amazon CTO Werner Vogels)
The store is well integrated in the Amazon look and feel and very easy to use, search, get recommandations, pre-listen(, buy, and download). As icing on the cake, album purchases are “really” album purchases and you get a substantial discount by buying the album as a whole; for example you spend 9.49 $ and save 13.28 $ on the purchase of Beautiful Maladies: The Island Years.
Sound quality is good (256 Kbps avarage bitrate) and no DRM make it a really appealing service.
The (not so) bad news are: the album purchase requires the installation of the “Amazon MP3 Downloader” only available on Windows and Mac, not that bad because a Linux client is in development.
The REALLY bad news are: I wasn’t able to fulfill my purchase because Territorial Restrictions make the purchase available available only customers located in the United States (DOH! - no forseeable bug fixes).
5. Territorial Restrictions
As required by our Digital Content providers, Digital Content will, unless otherwise designated, be available only to customers located in the United States.
Bottom line: I can buy a physical book and have it delivered across the ocean, but I am not able to have digital content delivered through the Internet. Really Really Disappointed.
Week-end… time for a relaxing post, time for listening to some good music.
The title of this post come from the (title of) website of the artists I am listening to right now, Brad Sucks; he’s a damn clever and skilled musician, a really enjoable listening!
His debut album is “I Don’t Know what I am Doing“, it has a (deliberately - the album doesn’t sound anything near scratchy, it’s well produced) lo-fi indie rock style that makes it really catchy, there are a couple of songs you’ll start remember just a few runs. The album has been making to the top ten best-selling albums on Magnatune for a long time (even if the album can be freely downloaded). My favourite songs (available from Brad Suck’s website):
“Making Me Nervous”
“Sick As A Dog”
“I Think I Started A Trend”

At Brad Sucks on Magnatune his own albums and derivative works are available for purchase, licensing and full listen preview.
For those “remixically oriented” derivate works (Mixter Two: CD1, CD2) contain remixes from some talented indipenendent internet remixers (the artwork is quite impressive too).

Bottom line: take a listen, you won’t regret!
Here I post a convenient bookmarklet to generate a M3u File from the mp3 links contained in the current web page.
Here JouM3U is.
To save it just grab the “JouM3U” link to the Bookmark Toolbar (on Firefox), to use it just click the bookmark where you are in a web page containing mp3 links.
Here it is a really cool(ing) playlist to test it Frequenze Indipendenti: AntiWarmthWednesdayPlaylist.
Enjoy your listening!
The return is limited to a MasterCard commercial … however it’s priceless!
For those who dare… I suggest downloading the MIDI version of the MacGyver Theme and using it as the default melody of your mobile
.
